It works. I've tried it. Faux finishes work best.
Although many have asked, many have said yes,I am a firm believer of NO...down the road the wallpaper will bubble and peel creating more work then necessary
Yes, it works just fine. I did it many years ago in my dining room. Faux finishes are so NOT necessary, and very out of style now anyhow. As long as all the seams are good and tight, you can roll paint right over the wallpaper. I didn't even use a primer on mine, I used 2 coats of latex matte-finish paint. If you do have loose spots on the seams, you can reglue the bad spots with a little watered down white school glue (elmers). use a small artists brush, or an eyeliner brush to apply a thin coat of glue. wait a minute or so for it to get some 'tack', then press down all the areas where you've applied the glue. Let your newly glued seams dry overnite (or at least 2-3 hours) before painting your walls. I'm jus sayin...
I painted over wallpaper 25 years ago and yes it needs new paint but it has lasted this long. If they still make it I think there is a paint that is more suited to using over wallpaper but I don't remember the name
