Glaze over semi-gloss painted cabinets

I want to paint my oak cabinets white. My question is can I use a glaze over semi-gloss paint?

You will nedd to sand down the cabinets before painting to get rid of the high gloss protection. Depending on what type of paint you are going to paint with, you may need to prime the cabinets with a gripper primer.

  @DeDe @ Designed Decor Thanks for your reply. I plan to fully complete all the necessary prep work prior to painting the cabinets. However, I just wasn't sure a glaze would adhere to the glossy paint afterwards. I have glazed furniture that was painted with a satin finish and all the pieces are gorgeous. Hopefully, the color I have chosen won't need a glaze. I just don't want bright sterile white cabinets. I also know this will be long process, but I am ready!!!!!

  @Charlotte So you are talking about glazing after you have painted and sealed? Yes, you can glaze over the sealed paint! I glazed over sealed paint all of the time. You will need to let dry completely before using or cleaning.
