I would use a heat gun. Don't over-heat, just enough to soften the paint so it will scrape off easily.
Use a 1 sided razor blade but, when scraping glass with a razor, or anything else, make sure the glass is always wet. Or you could try a paint remover.
A razor blade with paint thinner was most effective and got most of it off, but turns out that under numerous layers of paint (and a couple layers of something that might have even been a stain) that it’s a beautiful etched glass, plus it has a pattern. There’s no surface for the razor blade to grab and the paint thinner isn’t cutting through some of what’s caught in the etched glass grooves.
is there something stronger than paint thinner that might cut through this by just rubbing?
