Painting metal curtain poles

I have antique good curtain poles and was thinking to update them to soft silver or white colour. Is there any way of doing so with long lasting effects? I worry that with every day use the paint would scratch and wear off quickly.

I would spray paint them. After they're completely dry you can spray them with a clear acrylic. You can buy either a matte or gloss finish. I'd put on at least two coats.

When oil rubbed bronze was "the thing" a couple years ago, I used Rustoleum on my cheap curtain rods in several rooms. I open & close the curtains several times a week in my bedroom and I can't tell that it's done any harm. I have the rings on them, too. This reminds me, I ran out of paint before I finished one of the rods. I just turned that side to the wall. Never have finished it. LOL

There are so many new spray paints available. Try going and researching before posting a silly question.

Glad someone posted this question - I want to paint a lamp and was curious about other's experiences with painting metal. Thank you.

Lightly sand to remove any gloss. Spray paint with metal paint. Several light coats will get you a smooth and long lasting finish.
