How to stop exterior paint from peeling on doorframes?
The doorframes on my 10 year old home all peeled the first year. I sanded, primed and 9 years later they are doing the same thing. One is east side, one south and last is west side.

I wish I knew. I'm having the same problem with my doorframes. We have two; one on the second story and one on the first. The first-story one is shaded by an overhang. The other is not, is in direct southwest sun and looks awful.

West and south side walls are always taking a sun beating. I don't know why it should peel that quickly. It sounds like maybe a water intrusion problem.
Hmm. The first things that come to my mind would be, 1- painting over pressure treated wood too soon (pressure treated wood needs to she a few weeks before painting), 2- Misti in the wood probably to painting, 3- failure of the primer or paint. Old lead based paint would peel and flake really bad after a few years but I'm sure that you didn't have access to it would have used lead based so some that one. I'm also fairly confident that pressure treated wood want used for a door frame. I really don't know about the potential for a moisture problem either. If after the first paints peeling (did it peel down to the wood it to the primer?), you properly sanded and primed and painted, with a good primer and paint, I'm just not sure. You can check with the "paint experts" at Lowe's or Home Depot or even go to a Sherwin Williams or Benjamin More store and check with them. Usually they are very helpful.
