I would like to make my furniture driftwood color- any advice?

ebony stain on it. I do not want to sand to bare wood. Could I do this with a chalk paint? If so, what color would you suggest.

If you want to achieve a wood color, you will have to sand and then stain it the color you want. Paint covers the wood grain, stain enhances it.
