This table has what I think is laminate / Formica on it. Do I have to take off or again just sand enough for primer to adhere?

Honestly, after painting for 40+ hears, I will never use anything but Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. It may seem pricey at first, but it is amazing. 1/2 quart painted 2 large closet doors, both sides, the entry door to bedroom (2) coats and the trim. My wood in this 70 year old home had lead based oil paint. Nothing would stick to them for long that had a water base. Her paint is amazing, nothing is safe from me now, lol. I am going to paint my kitchen cabinets, am doing various pieces of furniture throughout the house. If you don't want to build up the wax, which is beautiful, you can resort to polyacrylic (Minwax), works great.
