Rustproofing a metal shelf for the bathroom

I have a small metal plant stand that I thought I would use in the bathroom to hold extra towels. Is there paint or some finish that I could use so moisture would not rust the stand? Thanks for any help.

    You can spray it with a clear rustoleum spray paint which should protect the metal from moisture.

    Pam Rustoleum spray paints are made specifically for inhibiting rust on metal. Their paints come in a variety of colors and sheens and finishes as well as clear coats. They're available at most hardware and home improvement stores.

    Hammerite is a metal paint available in smooth and hammered finishes in a variety of colours. Spray and brush on versions are available. Alternatively you could use enamel paint, car paint or even gloss paint.

    if it is rusty already, us some naval jelly to remove the rust, and then use the rust inhibiting Rustoleum or the Krylon equivalent...so many great color options. Available at Walmart!
