Sealing a cedar kitchen table

We made a ceader table and need to finish with a high gloss or whatever stores and DIY users use. it is all sanded and ready to go. Sealing suggestions?

Use Formbys tung OIl it leaves a high luster and is very durable, easy to apply , let dry completely before using the table . good luck

You can always use a good quality polyurethane.

Thanks to all that have sent us ways to do it. I think that the Polyurethane will do it. We will experiment first. Thank you all Judy ,Darla, General Finishes.

Watco Danish oil durable, nourishes the wood, no water marks or dings, never need to sand again, just add additional coats as the years pass. Follow directions on can.

water based poly dries in minutes with no odor. That's what I use on anything is side.

I vote for the poly too and it really works to use a piece of cardboard or brown paper to "sand" between coats.

hi all I wanted to add .We do not remember what the finish was when we made the table originally. And I have seen and experienced horrors when applying a new finish over an old one and they were not compatible ya know what I mean? Thanks Linda

I personally don't like a high shine finish on a rustic look so I recommend Modern Masters Dead Flat Varnish.
