Red! I don't know the other colors in your house, but red would sure kick your kitchen up a notch. It looks like the area could use some color.

You could choose, navy, med-dark teal, med-dark green, Red or brick red (like the tail lights) charcoal gray... I would paint the upper cabinets white or light gray and once the island is painted... paint the stools white or silver metallic.

What color is your backsplash and counters? I would let those guide your choice first.

White subway. Granite is light beige with medium and dark brown swirls with some rust and silver sparkles. Not sure if I am describing well.

I think your walls are gray, but I can’t tell. Since it’s open design you need to use the same basic colors all the way through, but you can mix it up with accessories, pillow, flowers etc. First I would paint the island the pretty blue in the picture, and also the backsplash if it’s not tile, I can’t tell. Then I would paint the main wall in your living room the same blue, maybe behind the couch. I would also have at least 2 blue pillows on your couch, along with your other colors. That takes care of the main color, blue. Then you can go to Pinterest and scroll through color combinations until you find one you love. I found 1 with a pretty blue in it that will go well with your picture. I’ll see if I can copy and paste here, but if I can’t, just go search and you’ll find one. https://pin.it/psx7qocjjspqvo. Good luck!

All good ideas! Backsplash is white subway tile. Walls are a medium contractor beige color. New home and we've been here only about 6 mos so we have not done any painting yet. We do plan to pick a wall in the gathering room to paint as an accent wall. Thanks for your help.

Think I would like the bottom of the island your deep blue from the picture, and some blue glass subway tiles for the back splash, and then I would paint the glass pendants shades with some stained glass paint in the orange.

Yes,I agree with a deep blue paint under the counter - it's far enough away from the kitchen that it need not match what you have there. I'd also apply a good sealer over the paint so that you can easily wipe off scuff marks, etc., from people sitting there, moving stools, etc. If the nightlight gets in the way of people sitting there, but you still want some kind of low light there maybe you could add lighting up under the counter slab, like rope lighting. Be sure to plug in some outlet covers for your outlet, like the baby proofing kind if you think the open outlet might get kicked or splashed.

The same red that's in the photo. WoW! What a great pop of color for your kitchen!

Personally, I would pick out a grey/silver from your counters or even a chalkboard black.. Heck, I might even do a corrugated metal wrapped wall to give it a contemporary twist. Upholster or paint the barstools with a pop of your fav color.
