3po3 on Feb 05, 2012Hardwood is usually a good choice - for looks, resale value, cleaning, etc. I would only urge you to check the sustainability of your acacia. Most acacia comes from Asia, and there are a lot of questionable logging operations there. Look for wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council or some such group.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Feb 07, 2012Check out this article I wrote first...this will give you an idea on some of the finishes out there. http://www.networx.com/article/exotic-wood-floor-finishes-you-havent-s Is this what you were looking at? http://www.amazon.com/Handscraped-Walnut-Prefinished-Hardwood-Flooring/dp/B001IN5SQE A Janka rating of 2300 is pretty darn good. On issue with wide stock ( 5 " or so) is that it can show shrinkage and expansion a bit more than narrower stock. Narrow stock has more "edges" that can adsorb the shrink. I did my master in Jatoba ( brazilan cherry) which has a close 2350 rating...I've been very pleased with it. For wide stock be sure to acclimate it well...at least 2 weeks before installHelpful Reply
