You Should Consider "2" Things so You Can Always Eat...

I love those "S" words. Sustainable, Self-Sufficient, Surplus, Simple, Smart & Savings.
I will admit it. We raised our children in the rural wooded isolated area of south Florida. All the pleasures were there - natural environment, native vegetation and animals, horses, water access. I would get home at 4pm on a Friday and not desire to return to civilization until Monday at 8am.

But I was dependent.
Looking back, yes I was dependent on the grocery store for survival. I do not want to be there with hands out in my retirement years, hoping that the grocery store will always have stocked shelves waiting for me.

So when we packed it all in and headed to the North Georgia mountains, we knew we wanted to live a simple sustainable life.
First things first! For food you need seeds. And it seems there is a plan in place to keep us tied to the seed companies for our edible gardens. No way! We have connected with a family who we can purchase seeds from (heirloom) and save our own seeds from year to year.

Do you want to always have seeds? Get some heirloom seeds.

Do you want a supply of protein? Start planning for chickens (or even rabbits)

Only "2" things...just "2" and we are sure that we will always have food on the table.
Never run out of seeds again.
I would love to see people begin to turn their lawns into gardens. Freezing, canning and SHARING food is the answer to soaring food prices. Community gardens where people can interact and form lifelong bonds. What a better world this would be!

Have a blessed weekend in the garden. Jo Wilmer/Simply Sharing And Serving
