Do Granite Transformations look as good as the real granite kitchen countertops?

Doug B on Mar 23, 2011Hi Lynne, With a transformation you get the look of the sample throughout uniform. With granite you get a product of nature with variable colors and patterns. However granite is not antibacterial. It comes down to preference and budget. I prepare a lot of food on my counter tops. For me I would have to use something antibacterial.Helpful Reply

3po3 on Mar 23, 2011Several people on HomeTalk have posted positive reviews and nice photos of their Granite Transformations projects. They seem to look pretty nice. You can find them by searching Granite Transformations above. However, the cost may be comparable to actual granite, and I think you're better off getting the real deal, so to speak. Less worries about weight, cracking and other problems.Helpful Reply

Yamini LEED AP at Urbanmotifs on Mar 24, 2011Lynne, I was at the Home and garden Show and the Granite Transformation's booth was pretty popular among the crowd. They seem to have a great product with a lifetime guarantee. The best part I like is, the granite is stain and scratch resistant! Here is their profile for more information. Good luck! http://www.hometalk.com/member/56294d524aDebbie K See ProfileHelpful Reply

Atlanta granite custom countertops - Stone Solutions on Nov 21, 2012I personally don't like that transformation; I prefer to remove the old counter instead of installing on top of itHelpful Reply

Jeanette S on Nov 23, 2012Doug I am glad to see someone bring up this point of antibacterial. I have no intention of redoing a kitchen and still have formica. I love it because it is not porous. It is white and I use Chlorox kitchen clean cleaner to not only sanitize it but to keep it clean. I think I must have an overly fearful attitude about certain foods that scare me. I even use a non-porous cutting board that I spray with kitchen cleaner and wash every time. I have been very surprised that sicknesses have not developed in these kitchens. But then I think a lot of people do not actually cook....they just pop something together. I am a start from scratch person. I will probable not change a thing for a long time.Helpful Reply
