I couldn't believe I found something I wanted at a thrift store!
This vintage sewing cabinet was exactly what I have been searching for... in great shape... but... not very pretty.
This vintage sewing cabinet was exactly what I have been searching for... in great shape... but... not very pretty.
It's a vintage, fabric covered, wooden framed, folding, portable sewing cabinet. They used to be made by a company and called them "Sew Tidy". Many folks have made and decorated their own versions. My mom has one. I wanted one.
Now that I have one, it needed some updating!
Then, attached wooden appliques with glue and tiny finishing nails.
After the glue was dry, I spray painted the exterior again. Then hand painted the interior with chalk paint. The large interior pockets had room for embellishment, so I printed off some antique sewing ads and ironed them on.
They added a nice vintage touch.
This old sewing organizer is perfect for all of my sewing notions storage without taking a lot of space!
The upcycle looks better in the room too!
