How to Age Textiles

Here's a simple way to 'age' any textile... linens, tablecloths, curtains, and more... with something that you probably already have on hand! And our grandmothers did it this way!!
For our mantle this season, I wanted to use a pretty table runner I found. But the white in it was just too, well... WHITE. It was even whiter than my trim paint color! So I wanted to make it look aged and I immediately knew I wanted to use tea.

The difference is subtle, which is just what I was going for... an aged white look! For a browner stain I would have brewed more tea bags for a more concentrated tea 'dye'. (Update: You can even use strong coffee, which some commenters said may even work better!)

Lba3380155 on Aug 16, 2016I have white csrpeting on one of my bedrooms and I stained it with Clorox ( dummy me) can somebody please help me they are two lanes about 3 inch. wide be 11 long. The white carpet of course doesn't look that white but the stain looks horrible and I can afford to get new carpet for the whole bedroom and I wouldn't know how to take those pieces off and add some of the original carpet please please HELP!
