Painting Hallway and Foyer

Painting hallway and foyer (entryway)
*Options I considered for this project:
We want to paint the hallway and foyer a similar neutral color that looks clean and fresh.
*My motivation to do this project:
The hallway and foyer are in desperate need of new paint. We have been putting this off long enough.
*Project Steps:
I first repainted all of the trim white with white paint I already had on hand. Second, I opened and stirred the paint for the walls. After I was sure the paint was fully mixed, I began painting. I cut in all of the trim first, then started painting the walls. I used a paint brush for my entire project. Although it is a little more time consuming to use a paint brush rather than a roller, it saves paint, reduces mess and in my opinion, covers better. After all of the painting was finished, I placed a fan in the hallway to speed up the dry time.
Advice:
When I repainted all of the trim, I painted a little further out than I should have. The white paint was harder to paint over than the walls which were already a similar color. Next time I paint I will cut the trim in better.
Materials:
Gallon of paint - $6.43

Josie W on Oct 13, 2010Thank you Steve G.. Choosing a paint color can be pretty overwhelming! I always start out in the 'Oops Section' of the paint store. I usually find a color that I like. The color I chose was Oops Paint that I lightened up by adding white. When we bought our house, I bought a color swatch collection from Sherwin Williams ( around $10) which really helped me in picking colors I wanted to use in my house. And, you can go through it at your own pace... (Home Depot will be able to mix the paint color you chose- even if it's not one of their colors) I hope this helped :-) Thanks again.
