SK's Little Black Dress Chairs and a Little, Ohhh Shiny

(IC: professional)
These solid reproduction chairs had seen many years of red velvet and were begging for a face lift. We found them at a thrift store for twenty nine dollars. Score!
With thousands of brass nail heads the dis-mantling took forever. The fun stuff found under the fabric was pretty disgusting.
They look like they could have come out of a boudoir in the red light district.
Stripped of their old finery.
Painted with a hammered bronze paint.
The start of my silver leafing process.
As I started the silver leafing process I found I liked the random cracked effect better than a solid silver. This cracking shows the bronze undercoat.
After the silver leafing was complete I waxed the wood with a buffing wax and buffed till I had that Old Glow.
The pretty broaches were a little final flirty touch. I outlined all the white graphics with a silver liner pen.
Thanks for visiting. sk

SK on Elderberry on Nov 05, 2014I just wanted to add this thought. A social decorum post by By Laura Vanderkam. A nationally recognized writer who questions the status quo . 9. LACKING DECORUM“The broad philosophy is that you have a bigger filter online than you do in real life, and I think the reverse is actually the case,” says Cook. We say stuff online we’d never tell people to their faces. Even though in most cases, our private nastiness won’t be eternally recorded; whereas our social media posts will.http://www.fastcompany.com/3037950/10-habits-that-make-everyone-hate-you-on-social-media
