4 Easy Cabinet Updates Under $50

Easy
During the kitchen remodel I knew I wanted to make the cabinets look more custom. I thought painting the cabinets would be a huge improvement (and it was) but there was something missing. I decided to use my favorite trick - adding inexpensive cabinet trim.
The first thing I did was build up the crown on top of the cabinets.
I used a piece of 3 inch flat stock, the original crown, and two pieces of cabinet trim to give the cabinets more height.
The final product (with the new range hood, of course). This was the most expensive project coming in around $50.
The next project I took on was dressing up the flat drawers.
I used the same cabinet trim on the drawers. The cost for 8 doors was around $26.
The easiest update I did was to the bottom of the cabinets. You can't have the top looking beautiful and the bottom still looking builder basic :-)
This was the least expensive update coming in at $12. Again, I used the same cabinet trim. I did this to keep everything cohesive.
The final detail was adding legs to the cabinet. I've always loved cabinets that looked like furniture so this was a fix I was looking forward to.
This is another super quick update. I bought furniture legs, cut them down and tapped them in (I cut them 1/16" taller than the cabinets so I could just tap them in with a mallet.
Enjoyed the project?

Lis1524616 on Apr 09, 2015Looks amazing. We painted our cabinets too and I agree it looks like something is missing. I'm going to add trim also. Love how the legs look on them. Did you add it to all the bottom cabinets. I'm thinking about doing the same thing.

CJ on Jul 15, 2015Love your entire project, but esp. the 'vertical' tile look of the backsplash! It's different and very cool....thanks!
