If you’ve never done any stencilling before, it can be quite intimidating, but it really is quite easy, so we'll show you the basics to help you get started.
For this demo we’ll use a cute bicycle stencil from StencilGirl. They have many great designs to choose from, so definitely go and check them out! In this tutorial we’ve painted this 5x7 board in Vanilla Frosting and are going to use the color Harmony for the stencilling.
If you'd rather watch a video, we also have a video tutorial available towards the bottom of this post!

Theresa Paterson on May 26, 2015Hi there . I want to stencil on top of my yellow wood kist with roses, but want a water colour effect .what would you suggest I use as i dont want to mess it up thank you

Country Chic Paint on May 26, 2015@Theresa Paterson That sounds like it will be very pretty! I would suggest you try watering the paint down just a bit to get more of that water colour effect you're going for. Definitely test it on a piece of scrap wood before you use it on your project as you'll want to make sure you have the technique down pat and it will give you the look you want before you dive right in! ~Sarah
