Faux Urban Loft #backtoschool

Our college age son asked for a brick wall in his bedroom. He loves the Urban Loft look that he sees all over the internet, so I decided to give him one. This faux loft features a brick stencil and a few fun decor items.
This room sadly needed an update, it had dark grey and bright red walls.
The brick stencil came from Royal Design Studios. I used latex paints in pale grey, brick red, charcoal grey, and white to create the look of actual brick. The finishing touch was a coat of golden furniture wax, this really gave the bricks an aged look.
The bricks turned out great, there are many steps to this painting technique, check the blog for details.
I added metal rails and wire baskets to each sleeping area for storage. Cell phones, tablets, cords, and homework all have a neat place to be kept! The spotlights and black and white big city skyline photos add to the fun and make you feel like you are in the big city!
