Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Oct 31, 2011I am tired of just looking at all the work you did. The best part of all of this, is when its done and you can brag to all your friends that you Did it Yourself. AS a contractor I can tell you its a great feeling when your done and proud of the work that you did.Helpful Reply

Melissa A on Nov 01, 2011Peace-it really is a lovely home. We're proud to call it ours:) Woodbridge-Thank goodness the plumbers are in there today too, we needed a little break to recover from the weekend:) I'm not to the point where I appreicate anything yet...hahaha I need to see drywall going up before I think something like that will kick in and then I will be able to brag it up:) I forgot to mention to you guys something exciting that we found while smashing down the walls-after taking off the pretty pepto-pink wall tiles the first layer of plaster was kind of stamped with a subway tile pattern on it. Sort of like how they stamp concrete, but it looked like subway tile:) What a great feeling to know that we are indeed taking the 100 yr old home BACK to what it once was by adding subway tiles again:) I've gotta say though, for the past two nights I've been staying at my parents house and having dinner waiting for me when I get home and then its time to just relax-no need to do dishes or anything-I could get used to this:)Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Nov 01, 2011It was very common to find a etched subway patten on walls of the houses during that period of time. We recently re-did a bath recreating that exact same pattern. Took a bit of time, but the results were great. Have fun!Helpful Reply

Melissa A on Nov 04, 2011We got a call today from the plumber with a little set back-the BR downstairs already has new floors and they are tile-so he is stumbling with what to secure the new PVC waste pipe to to kinda support the stool once it's placed. The hubby has an idea of how to "fix" that...ANY IDEAS?!?!Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Nov 05, 2011The closet flange can be set with construction adhesive...or drill through the tile and set with screws into the wood sub-floor.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Nov 05, 2011The floor is opened up? Then blocking is placed next to the pipe bend where it looks up towards the bottom of the toilet. Then new flooring is placed down with the round hole cut into it to allow the flange to be set down though the wood and into the pipe bend looking up. Simply glue the flange pipe down to the pipe as normal and then screw the flange into the plywood that it is supposed to be set on top of. Unless I am missing something here, the plumber should understand how to do this. Can you post a photo or two on what is going on? photos are worth about 1000 typed answers when we guess.Helpful Reply

Melissa A on Nov 05, 2011That floor isn't opened up because we redid that tile floor as part of our kitchen floor project. My husband was able to work with the plumber and get it all figured out. The hole from the old cast iron waste pipe was a lot bigger than the hole for the new PVC pipe. They were able to go into the basement and brace the pipe from underneath. Today the hubby got the electrical wires ran and hopefully we can get dry wall up soon!!:) we're on vacation next week from work so we can work on the bathrooms:) I will keep you posted!!Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Nov 06, 2011You may end up needing a vacation "after" your vacation....After a week at our cabin I often feel the same...the rest of the family actually enjoys the time there as they are "on" vacation but I am the one installing tile, hanging siding, painting etc.Helpful Reply
