I love the skull planters from Joann’s but they are a bit pricey at $30 a piece and they were out of stock near me. So, I was just strolling through Walmart, just a chillin... (Anyone know that paraphrased line from social media?) And I saw a skull food container. Ding, ding, ding! This is such a cost friendly project because my $20 projected cost makes two planters!

Here is a picture of the OG.

Here is the Walmart display that I saw. It’s really close, right?

So, I plopped a mum inside of it and pondered.

And pondered some more. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to paint it or leave it iridescent. So, I went to the professionals for help. The Hometalk question forum. This is always a great place to ask for opinions if you are stuck on a design decision. These Hometalkers are always happy to give their opinions.

I had decided to paint the inside black and see how the iridescent looked. My theory was that if it didn’t look good, I could still paint the outside solid black like the Joann’s inspiration piece.

Going in...

It was so quick and easy. It probably took 30 seconds.

Before and after

What a cool difference.

And now they are both ready for my mums.

Here is one...

And two! I love this project so much!!!

👻 Happy Halloween! 🎃

I am in desperate need of a Halloween wreath and rug to complete the look. Anyone else out there think this might be a fun look for your Halloween decor.
