How to clean the canopy of a gazebo?

What can I use to clean the canopy topper of my gazebo. Can they be washed on a gentle cycle of the washing machine and then hung to dry on clothesline? If not, any suggestions?

I would not recomend putting the canopy on the washer it is way to heavy and will knock the machine drum out of alignment.Spray it down with simple green and power wash off. If you do not have a power washer use a heavy duty hose nozzle. Should there be mold on the canopy spray it down with a heavy duty mildew cleaner.

Vicki hit the nail on the head! Spray with Simple Green (I used an old lawn weed sprayer.) and let it soak a bit...then if you can reach, a soft brush (we have one that the bar extends to wash our camper) then pressure wash. It's not fun, but it does the trick! Good Luck!

If you use a power washer be careful if you apply to much pressure it will go through the fabric.

I take mine to the laundromat (they have heavy duty washers) but you do have to spray it with water repellant spray or it will leak when it rains

Don't Wash!!! It will remove the water resistant coating. Cdn Tire has a product for cleaning awnings it works great. We did ours 2 wks ago. If u have already washed it , go to Cdn tire and buy a waterproofing spray. Spray once let dry for a day, then do again.

Just wash it with baking soda and water. The baking soda will not harm the water resistant coating.

Here's an idea that worked for us when we cleaned our outdoor patio umbrella. We mixed a couple of tablespoons of Dawn dish soap with a couple of gallons of water. Then using a sponge we used the mixture to wipe down the umbrella. Afterward, we rinsed it all off with a garden house and let it dry in the sunshine. Dawn dish soap is tough on grime, but it's also pretty gentle.
