If you need somewhere to hang coats etc in your entrance, they would be an ideal solution. Attach them to a piece of wood cut to a size that would work in the area, attach the knobs, and then attach the wood to the wall. Another idea would be to 'hoard' them until you find a 'diamond in the rough' chest of drawers and use them to replace the existing hardware. I wish I had them - they are beautiful!

Mine were an heirloom, and this is what I did with them... I was going to hang clothes or towels on them, but I wanted to see the door knobs so I am currently hanging long necklaces and jewelry on it.

Coat rack, put magnets on and put on magnetic note board, key holder. Pet leash rack, replace knobs on small cabinet. One or two in shower to hang Scrubbies on. Oh I could go on and on

What a deal! At Canadian flea markets, they can sell for $20 each!! There's many uses; from the obvious, installing them on doors in your current home, or mounting them to aged pieces of wood to serve as coat racks or piling them in an interesting bowl for a coffee table vignette to displaying them under a cloche (glass bell jar) for another vignette idea.

You could mount them on the walls to hold back your curtains. Or, cut down the mounting screws and attach them to kitchen/bathroom cabinets or a piece of beautiful furniture.

How about using them as photo or business card holders. Just sit the knob on the glass part and attach a looped piece of wire into the metal part of the knob. Viola! A photo holder.

Display them in a large basket or glass bowl with white string lights and floral accents and ribbons to hide any parts of the knobs you don't want to be visible. Temporary storage till you find their true purpose.

That's what I was thinking about doing. Just not sure if I want just a board or something fancier. Thank you so much though.

I purchased different styles of glass knobs at Hobby Lobby and attached them every 4" or so to a piece of my baseboard (it's about 6" tall and is rather detailed) and then mounted it on the wall. Now I have a very unique place to hang my pajamas, robe, or whatever!
  • Wanda sinnema Wanda sinnema on Nov 11, 2015
that was a score ! I'd use them to hang anything on.. coats and hats by the door, hangers in the laundry room when folding laundry, necklaces and scarves in the bedroom, PJ and robes, You might want to also get a few of the small glass ones to mix in with.... If you come and go via a garage,, put one on a board with a cute sign.... saying DON"T FORGET, RETURN BY ----- ! RETURN to owner, DONATE,,,,,etc..
  • Penny Penny on Nov 11, 2015

1st truly old Glass door knobs have a value as is, which is more then the dollar you paid. to add additional value if truly old, try this. place out in the direct sun light, in time they will change color or hue. his occurs because in old glass the sand had gold, silver copper or other trace minerals, he sand was not pure. With heat and sun light the glass changes color. so if they are really old, you have a real find and a money maker. do not do anything with them, they area true collectable and remodelers or restores of old property will pay highly for them
    • Karen Holsopple Karen Holsopple on Nov 19, 2015
@JOHNNY Oh I wish they were the 'old original' ones. Those were beautiful. These, I'm afraid, are much newer and I'm sure NOT made the way they used to. They're still clunky and weighty, but I still love them. Loved them as a kid, and still do 55 years later! lol
  • Holly Holly on Nov 18, 2015
I've seen them repurposed as the ends on curtain rods and they look great!
  • JOHNNY JOHNNY on Nov 19, 2015
Karen, You may still try the sun trick and see, it all depends on the material make up of the sand used making the glass, if they turn, what ever you use them with it will enhance their beauty
  • JOHNNY JOHNNY on Nov 19, 2015
Karen; suggestion make something a kin to a wind chime, use your own artic conjuring, but for your interior window, the sun light coming through the facet's of the glass door knob will refract the light and you will get rain bow streams into the home. test his 1st, again it depends on glass and facet's, new glass does work, it is in the facet cuts in he door knob glass.

If you still haven't figured out what you want to do with them, you could sell them to me for $2.00. LOL
    • Karen Holsopple Karen Holsopple on Nov 20, 2015
@Joan haha, I would if I didn't love them so much! I may just put them in a bowl as a centerpiece!
  • Marva M Marva M on Nov 20, 2015
I have seen the glass knobs attached to a painted board and used as a beautiful coat hook! Or, they could be used to hold bird houses in a tree close to a house window.
  • C Crow C Crow on Dec 06, 2015
In a previous home I glued those screws that are threaded on both ends into the door knobs, then hung them on the wall and then hung tab-top curtains from them. Worked well and was cute. Sorry I have no photos.

Or you can use them as doorknobs in your ensuite or throughout your house. They are beautiful. A lucky find. You can use these on your doors. If you don't have enough use these on hall side of the doors and get plain ones for the inside of your doors. They would also make great walking stick tops. Or curtain rod finials or in the bathroom to hang towels from instead of towel bars. There must be a way to use them as faucet handles. The ideas are endless but whatever you use the for "first do no harm". They are too pretty to paint, try putting a piece of cellophane at the base of the knob to Dee if it shows through or add just the knobs to a simple chandelier do the light shines through. You can also use them as finials for big lamps. Or knobs for an entertainment center. Just google or search Pinterest for other ideas, but most of all enjoy them and post pictures. One more idea mount them on your fireplace at Christmas time to hang stockings on.

Wow these are beautiful door knobs! Maybe you could make a hanger for jackets for the hallway or something similar?
  • Margie Margie Margie Margie Margie Margie on Mar 27, 2016
I don't know. Maybe you could dip each 1 in colored modge podge, hang them up to dry, pile them in a clear glass bowl arranged with the knobs up and the part that would attach to the door down so they aren't showing. If it doesn't work out, the modge podge will wash off. If it's a translucent bowl, instead of clear, you can even hide some fairy lights in the bowl.

you could attach them to a nice painted board to use as a wall hanging, and then hang your necklaces on the doorknob. It would be beautiful! (several on a wall would really be pretty)

Attach them to a board (at least 4-6 of them) and use them for a hall coat/hat rack.
