Bob and RodMan S on Dec 22, 2011A living plant, as Four Seasons suggests, is a great idea. Do consider, however, someting that you have made - craft or cookery - as the whole idea is to express your well wishes for your friends and to add a blessing to their new home.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Dec 22, 2011We are the "crafty" types and make our own Soy wax candles...we use small tins as the containers so there are no molds or complex "post production" things to do to get them looking good. The wax is environmental friendly being made from soy rather than petroleum. We make 12 to 24 at a time and keep a few in reserve to use as gifts. Our cost of production is less than $5 per ...and being "home-made" they have a more personal touch.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 22, 2011Although some people frown upon gift cards, Ones from the big box stores always get used by new home owners as they begin to fix the home up as they make it their own.Helpful Reply

3po3 on Dec 22, 2011I am decreasingly enthused about getting "stuff" for people. I feel like most of us already have too much "stuff." Some food or such is always welcomed, especially by a new homeowner, who likely has plenty of other things to worry about rather than cooking three meals a day. One of my favorite gifts I have received was a jar of chai mix. It's unique, practical and it's practically free. It's also something I wouldn't think to make for myself. You just use black tea and some spices that you probably already have on hand (and let's face it, who uses up spices before they go bad?), and you can put it in funky old jars, then dress them up. There are plenty of recipes out there. You could try a few, and find one that you love.Helpful Reply

Flowerscapes Garden Design & Landscaping on Dec 22, 2011I make homemade fudge to give out. I also collect many flowerseeds from my yard and draw a picture of the flower on a nice envelope. I probably give away thousands of seeds each year, about 30 lbs of fudge. Sometimes a magazine subcription about one of their favorite hobbies.Helpful Reply

Pat G on Dec 22, 2011I usually make some type of jelly for 100% fruit juice you get in the health section of the grocery store a package of pectin and some sugar. Directions are in the box of pectin. Use pretty jars and after it gets cold add a pretty ribbon.Helpful Reply

Bernice H on Dec 23, 2011A food item is always usable. I agree, most of us have "stuff"...too much stuff! at least a food item will not go to waste, it will get used by someone sometime. A special coffee, teas, hot chocolate, with chocolates in a basket or pretty tin or gift bag.Helpful Reply
