Nancy on Dec 11, 2015Hi, Cindy. Sorry to tell you this, but concrete will crack. Just the nature of the beast. That said, the hairline cracks you have could have been caused by several things. One is that the concrete was not mixed properly (didn't have the proper amount of ingredients). One is that the pour was not thick enough. And, because you live in a hot humid area, it's possible that the contractor did not let the concrete "cure" properly. Also look up "cold joint" on the computer AND look up "why concrete cracks". Whatever--make the contractor fix it to your satisfaction. He didn't do the job for free. Not sure how much you paid, but consider getting a lawyer if you don't already have one. There are experts who can tell you exactly why the concrete cracked. Your attorney will be able to find one. Expect to pay a few hundred dollars, but it may be worth it to find out. Good luck.Helpful Reply
