Dan's of Central Florida, Inc. on Jan 18, 2012Kathleen, the best way to go about it is to remove the old tile and start with a fresh wall. Covering is just asking for problems later on down the road.Helpful Reply

Designs by BSB on Jan 18, 2012In order to give you the best answer, please share a photo. The answer will depend on how thick your tile (to say the least). The photo should show the top.. and how does it run into the floor.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jan 18, 2012Kathleen the answer is yes to all of them. But as Dan said its much better to remove the old and start fresh as any covering is a stop gap method that only lasts for a short while. You can have someone come in if the tile is in good shape and re-glaze them. You can cover but being in a bath its not uncommon because of humidity to cause the adhesive to fail causing the beadboard to warp and come loose. You can paint. But if you need to scrub the walls because of the lack of target practice from the little boys in the house it will wear off in no time. As BeckySue said also. If you can take a photo and paste it on your post. You will get a ton of ideas to make this the bath you want it to be!Helpful Reply

Peace Painting Co., Inc. on Jan 19, 2012That's right, the tile can be painted. Good primers, like XIM, can be found at a good paint store like Sher-Will. Just clean well first and it will paint just fine. CPHelpful Reply

Debi53 on Jun 01, 2015I just posted this for another similar question, so thought I would copy it to you. It might be what you are looking for.' We had hideous traffic light yellow tiles on our shower walls. We also had ugly white worn-out melamine counter tops. We had a company that does a chemical bonding spray to redo ours. It doesn't matter what your old color(s) are. Our shiny yellow tiles now look like textured stone. I had this done on all three of my baths' sink counters and tub surrounds. It has been 4 years and still looks brand new. They are in & out in a 2 day process & leave no mess to clean up. Easiest redo I have ever done.'Helpful Reply

Debi53 on Dec 24, 2015I don't believe it works on floors because of the wear and tear of walking on the floors, but it is great on bath fixtures. We had our tub surround and vanity tops done to look like stone and I love them. We have also used this fix for a house we were flipping.Helpful Reply

Lucy Nunn on Dec 25, 2015If the tile is on the walls, you will be amazed at how easily it pops off. If it's in the shower, that's tougher because you will want to retile. Our old pink and black 50's tile was gone in a day. The hardest part was carrying it away (heavy), I sold quite a bit on ebay though.Helpful Reply
