What do Homeowners want to see on a Professional Home Improvement Website?

Just in the process of redoing the Rule4 website - 3 years old and I'm sure you'll agree, ready for a refresh! http://www.rule4.net/portfolio.htm I just wondered if any hometalkers out there have some likes and dislikes about websites and what you like to read and see. Before's and after's perhaps? Photos and information about the Company Team? Large portfolio? I'd love some feedback, sometimes difficult to judge these things from the "inside!" If you have some favorite sites you want to share, that would also be fantastic. Many Thanks! Allison, Rule4 Marketing Manager

  • Couple things could be general tips on various DIY repairs stuff (ie. fix a leaky faucet). Another could be some general definitions of terms used in the contracting/remodeling business.

I would always rather see a before-and-after photo for portfolio projects. That makes it easier to tell how much work you did.
  • I like both the ideas that Steve and Dan suggested. How about adding a couple video of your work. Videos are in these days you could also link them to your youtube channel if you have one. A newsletter is always good to be connected.

Thanks everyone for the input. Before's and After's and videos. @SheilaG, your input was also very useful, it just shows you that things that bug some people aren't noticed by others. Actually we are dropping the circular logo, so that sort's that one out! Allison
