3po3 on Feb 21, 2012So how quickly does this happen? In almost any freezer, ice cubes will start to stick together after a few days. If it's less than that, you may have a problem with the temperature regulation in there. Also make sure there isn't ice getting caught in the dispenser door, letting in warm air and partially melting the ice.Helpful Reply

Ron C on Feb 21, 2012Happens in one day or less. the dispensor door closes after a few seconds. I've tried cutting off the ice maker (raising the gate) and that seems to help.Helpful Reply

3po3 on Feb 21, 2012If isolating the ice bins helps, sounds like a temperature regulation problem in the freezer. It could be that you are wasting a lot of energy if there is a bad seal or something on this freezer. Look for rebates, etc., in your area for replacing your fridge and freezer. A new efficient fridge and freezer can save you big bucks on energy bills, and should solve this problem.Helpful Reply

HandyANDY - Handyman & All Repairs, LLC on Feb 23, 2012Some clumping together is fairly normal after a couple days of non-use....if it's just some, mix the ice around with a wooden spoon every couple of days. Check your temp on the freezer section...ideally it should be from 0 to 10 degrees. As Steve suggests, check the gaskets on the door & the outlet from the icemaker through the door to make sure they seal tight. If no issue there, check the water inlet valve. These can become clogged with debris or mold which will effect the water pressure to the ice maker. What make and model is the fridge? Most appliances are relatively easy fixes if you have an inquiring mind and some patience! Parts for most are available at Sears or Fox Appliance.Helpful Reply
