Making chalk paint from calcium carbonate/pulverized limestone

I am looking to make my own chalk paint. Seems the recipe using calcium carbonate is well received, however people mention how hard it is to find the calcium carbonate. It appears that this is ground limestone. Do I understand that correctly? Because several stores carry that (100% pulverized limestone at Menards, 50 lb bag, for like $5.00) Is that the same thing??? Could it really be that easy and inexpensive??? Thank you for your help!

For $5, why don't you try it out? It is all the same product, ground calcium carbonate powder/dust, just how fine the pulverization will effect it's mixing quality.
