Bright pink spots on leaves

I just noticed these spots on one branch of a tree in our yard here in Maine. I believe it is probably a sugar maple, although that is only a guess as I know we have a few in our yard.

It sounds like something fungal, which is relatively common with maples. Unless it starts to look significantly worse all you need do is rake up all the leaves around the tree in the fall and dispose of them.
