Johnchip on May 19, 2016A really rich deep dark forest/pine green enamel glossy finish would look appropriate. Then find a couple matching color plantings for the front.Helpful Reply

Debi S on May 19, 2016How dark green do the triple panes get? Which direction does the door face? Texas sun and heat can make a difference. Is the entryway covered? Deep green and burgundy combination on door and frame might work. One color for the door, the other for frame.Helpful Reply

William on May 19, 2016Janet is right! The green would draw the eye to the windows and not the architecture of the home. I would get raised panel shutters for the four outer windows, paint them and the door a rust or burgundy as lornaleitch suggests. This would enhance the homes architecture and draw the eye to it.Helpful Reply

Lynne Boyd Almstrom on May 19, 2016Google using the color wheel for paint decisions. You have two strong colors in the mix now-the orange brick and the green of the windows. I think a blue violet would be a good choice and reinforce that color with some flowers or bushes under the windows in a similar color. Maybe even paint your cute mailbox the same color to pull the eye out a bit from the door. Adorable house.Helpful Reply

Sandra on May 19, 2016I would first have a cover for front door made, then decide the color. I would not draw attention to windows, Maybe a darker brown. always a roof over doorHelpful Reply

Susan on May 20, 2016Think of the colour of your brick. Pick a complimentary color. Aubergine or a purple-red would be beautiful. If you want a lighter color a yellow or salmon would look nice. I like unexpected front doors. If your home has an HOA. Make sure you check first.Helpful Reply

Lou on May 21, 2016Resolved the "green window" issue. A open minded lady came up with the simple solution. Open up the blinds. I opened the blinds and to my delight the very distracting green window panes all but disappeared. Now we can move forward with selecting a door color! Btw everyone, we live in North Texas atop a hill. In the hottest months the heat is horrendous. Our house faces east so it gets full morning sun. Our home is 23 years old yet the low e triple pane windows are almost new. Zero heat radiates through them in the summer and the interior glass stays the same temperature as the rooms year round. Also note that during the summer blowing wind is akin to standing in front of an open oven door. In winter akin to standing in front of an open walk in freezer. The very fine Feather River fiberglass front door's finish is fainted and worn so it must be refinished. We have chosen to paint in lieu of stain. There are a vast array of paint colors as compared to a limited selection in gel stain. Our sincerest thanks.Helpful Reply

Wglindner on May 24, 2016I know what it like for the sun to fade stuff . I painted my shutters dark brown and on that was in sun more faded. So wha I did was I took all Dow and sand them and painted them again. But this Time a put a water base satin finish polyurethane on them. And they never faded again. Front door colors I like but I'm only seeing brick color are soft line green, soft real, or a burnt orange. Line is my favor but let the door dry good and then put a coat on it I promise it won't fade and it help with the rain.Helpful Reply
