How to cover window shades with fabric ?

Z on Jul 18, 2013You used to be able to get kits for this at Fabric stores. I've not looked for sometime, but I'd recommend calling the closest fabric shop to you. Not sure how big Columbia, MO is, but when our daughter was stationed at the near by AFB there wasn't any big fabric stores near her so you might have to check online at either Hancock or Joann fabrics.Helpful Reply

Z on Jul 18, 2013I figured one of the two fabric stores I mentioned would know. It's been too long since I was in the fabric business that I wasn't sure. Make sure to share the process and finished results here. We'd love to see them.Helpful Reply

Accentuations! on Jul 19, 2013I have always used a spray on adhesive when covering a shade. Make sure to be in a well vented area! I actually have done it ourdoors--If at all possible, and you have not cut the fabric, it is much easier to spray the unrolled shade from the top and work your way down, applying and smoothing the farbic as you go. Then, when you are finished and it is dry you can trim up the fabric with a razor blade, exacto, etc.Helpful Reply

Susan M on Jul 25, 2013what i have done with window blinds is find a fabric with a scenery on it that you like. Take your blinds apart ( slats ) Now lay your fabric print down on a flat large surface. Then take one of your slats spray with adhesive glue ( the top of the blind slat ) Now working from the top of the back side of the printed printed fabric place the blind slat there making sure the fabric sticks to it. Now do the next one the same way. When you have finished with all the slats then you cut them apart, make your holes for the string to go through. ( I used a small pair of makeup scissors ) then put them back together starting from top to bottom. Bingo! You now have a blind with a scenery when closed.Helpful Reply
