Jamie at So Much Better With Age on Jul 25, 2013No they're different. I did some research on this recently too. I haven't used it yet but they are definitely different. It was really hard to find in Canada but I finally found some freezer paper from Reynolds from Superstore. Hope that helps! I'm dying to work on some projects...just need the time ;) Jamie somuchbetterwithage.comHelpful Reply

Marilyn Highley on Jul 25, 2013@JoThey are different. Waxed paper is translucent (you can almost see through it, but it's cloudy), and both sides of the paper are covered with a very thin layer of wax. Freezer paper is usually white and is one-sided. One side is plain paper and the reverse side has a thin coating of something, usually plastic. The freezer paper is usually sold in wider rolls, so a butcher could wrap larger hunks of raw meat to store in the freezer.Helpful Reply

Marilyn Highley on Jul 26, 2013@JoGood luck with your search. I hope you don't have too much trouble finding freezer paper 'downunder'. The most common brand that we find here is Reynolds. They have a website that might make your search easier, if you don't find it locally. www.reynoldskitchens.comHelpful Reply

Arlene Murrell on Apr 12, 2014They are different. You can cook a roast in Freezer paper, but you can't in wax paper. Freezer paper is coated on one side similar to wax paper. Check with a meat market if you are having a difficult time finding it in a store.Helpful Reply

Cynthia H on Jun 29, 2014You didn't say what you wanted to use it for, but, I was taught a method of tracing patterns onto freezer paper, on the paper side, and then ironing the pattern onto the fabric you are using the coated side towards the fabric. This was for doll making. It works great for patterns. It can also be used for printing designs on fabric, as the freezer paper stiffens the fabric you want to print on, to go through your printer. Works great!Helpful Reply
