Turn a standard light fixture into a chandelier

Cher @ Designs By Studio C on Oct 13, 2013Are you wanting to cover the socket itself? If I'm picturing this correctly, socket covers can be purchased that cover the socket. They can be cut with a hacksaw, if need be. If the socket covers won't fit, maybe cut strips of decorative punched aluminum and create some that can be spray painted to match. Hope this helps!Helpful Reply

Lea on Oct 13, 2013I just want to cover the threads, I was wondering if I could even get a 5 inch round pvc pipe and have it cut to cover the threads, and maybe even spray paint them to match the color of the ceiling fixture.Helpful Reply

LandlightS on Oct 14, 2013I think I understand that you want to cover the metal threaded part of the lamp socket. What is throwing me off is your comment about a 5" round pvc pipe. If you search on line or go to your local Ace Hardware you will find socket covers. They are available for the standard socket (medium base) or for a candelabra base socket. This is what they look like and you can easily cut with a household scissors. They are available to look like a dripping candle also. Good lighting, GaryHelpful Reply

Linda on Dec 16, 2014I did this same thing... I turned my lights upside down. They were lose and went easily, just turned them around. But I need to make it look better, and I think this post is going to help.Helpful Reply

Deborah Morey on Oct 29, 2015I turned mine as well but instead of just removing the globes, I found some more delicate ones to use. I have also used it with the socket covers and some large clear lightbulbs, like the ones for a vanity only bigger ( appx. 6" tall & 3" dia) that I found at Walmart,Helpful Reply
