I would paint it the same color as the rest of the cabinets. You want it to match the rest of the cabinets as if it is part of the install. Any other color, it would stand out and look like cabinet just placed there.
I agree with William, especially because its at the end of the row and not in the middle, it might look out of place painted a drastically different color.
With the position of the piece I would match the rest of the cabinets.
Continue your cabinet color and maybe consider adding some of the same hardware you have on the drawer pulls. Where there is open back, you may consider adding backpanels and painting to match rather than see through to the wall behind.
I would paint it to match and turn it perpendicular to the wall to finish the refrigerator side.
Raise it up to match the cabinet to the left and then paint it the same color. If you need to, add a filler strip along the left cabinet, caulk, and then paint. That way it will look continuous with no gaps.
Thanks William! I appreciate your time and suggestion.
Great minds think alike for matching the colored cabinets! Good luck on the project. BTW my sister lives in Waunakee!
I would add legs or a a bottom to make it the same height as your other cabinets and paint it the same and add a small piece of molding or wood to the other cabinet next to it to make it look as though it is appart of the same cabinets.
But the oppertunity is in the openings that is where you could add something that is your accent or to match something in the kitchen. (metal like fridge, mirror, wall paper, or accent color ect ...) Hope it helps Teresa
If this cabinet is really teak wood, make sure you seal it good before painting it. If you don't seal it, the oil from the teak has a tendency to leak back out through the paint. Hope that helps.
I can't thank you all enough for helping me figure this out. Thank you!
i'd turn it, since it hangs out into the door way a bit, so that the open part is to the side. i'd paint it the side that is facing the same as your cabinets the same color as your cabinets, then on the side that faces the door way,
paint the flat parts same as cabinets, but let the other parts of the wood that match what is around the room, nat wood. that would then be the accent on the pc. I am not sure if I am explaining this right.
but I don't think i'd line it up like you have it as it looks like an add on since it goes into the doorway a bit. by turning it, you are making it part of the entry into the kitchen which ads a dif feel to it. and if you are uncomfortable w the flat side facing the same way as your cabinets, hang something rustic looking on it, like antique kitchen item(s)
lets see what you do! post a pic! please!
I would paint it the same as the other cupboards. great cupboard!
I agree that you should turn it sideways. Also to raise it up with legs to the height of the cabinets, then paint to match the cabinets. I looks like the teak matches the wood accent color of your cabinets...if it does, it would make it look high end to leave a few areas unpainted...maybe the frame around and the center panel?
