FABRICATE A 3 SIDED FENCE YOU CAN PLOP-IN. USE A SIMPLE WOOD FRAME AND LATTICE OR PLYWOOD. PAINT TO MATCH HOUSE. THEN IF NOT ENOUGH PUT SOME POTTED PLANTS IN FRONT.
Home Improvements stores sell white privacy fencing for that.
Janet,
Thanks for your recommendation. I am trying not to drill into concrete to install fence posts.
how about a 3ft evergreen tree in a white square planter - five of these potted trees surrounding your unit would give the concreted space some "life" and you'd even have a view of an "evergreen" from that window I see in your photo!
You could frame some lattice panels and hinge them on two corners and attach them sides to the house to stablize them. Most important thing is DO NOT block the air flow to the unit. Shrubs and such look pretty but can block the air flow. You might also try building planter boxes and fill them with flowers but again be sure to keep the area open enough for air flow.
Thank you all for great suggestions. I do like the potted trees ideas. I will see whats available in the big box stores.
I'm with a 3-4 foot high white pvc privacy fence and potted plants.
I am suggesting lattice to surround the unit, but easily removabl to allow for maintenance. If using potted plants..watering them is a consideration..I would think.
What about putting pallets together (2 or 3) to do something like this? I was thinking of doing something similar with my unit, but with something to cover the top in the winter (to keep the snow off).
Thanks for your suggestion Dayna.
be careful doing this that unit needs plenty of air when its hot outside to exhaust the air it could affect your seer on the unit usually a bad idea to restrict it I do co-own an appliance and hvac store and also service
Thanks for the word of caution Mitzie.
I used to work for elec company. They have good ideas so that your A/C does not fail. I suggest calling them for good ideas. Air flow, shade, root growth all make a difference to that a/c that will also cut your bill!
Thanks.
I personally would see what the cost would be to move it to the other end of the patio. All the work involved would be extensions of the wiring and a new little platform. It may be worth it, and it never hurts to ask! You may be able to do some of the work yourself. Good luck to you Gary.
