The most efficient and permanent solution is to sand the entire table top by hand or use a hand sander to do the same thing. Then restain the top, and reseal it, as well. Another idea is to lightly sand it and then paint the top, any color of your choosing, and seal it,as well. You can simply use chalk paint, which is very forgiving and avoid a priming, prior to painting, at all.
I just remove a white circle left by a flowerpot by putting Miracle Whip on a clean soft microfiber cloth and rubbing it on the spot in a circular motion. I wiped the excess off thoroughly with a second clean cloth. No one can tell the spot was there!
If you know a smoker, ask for their ashtray. Dip a soft dry cloth in the ash and rub the circle gently. The ash will absorb the trapped water and the ring will disappear. I used to clean houses during college. My mom told me about this, and I did it to a lady's coffee table. She thought I was a genius. She loved the table, but resigned herself to having it be ugly. It's gorgeous now.
On wood tables that get white water ring spots , I used a little rubbing alcohol on cotton ball . It should not hurt the finish and removes most of them. Do test it on a corner First to make sure it will not damage the finish.

Use the white toothpaste as Janet suggests! Make sure the cloth is damp. Sanding, staining, or painting the table is OVERKILL.
