I would definitely find something that has a bit of grab on one side. I had the same issues and we had a long piece of wood and stapled a piece of scrap of fake leather we found at a local Hobby store that matched the couch (win). And we carefully put the wood in the crack of the couch so that the seat cushions were covered and tucked the extra under the seat. It worked for the time we had it and we could take it off when needed. It was the best we had come up with. You could do the same with any other couch covers if you wanted to be able to throw it in the washer! Hope it helps!
There are ready made covers designed especially for pets. Maybe you could help keep it in place by adding hook and loop tape (Velcro) to the back of the couch and under the arms. Just a thought...
There's a catalog called Improvements that has a variety of furniture covers for pets,. All furniture styles, sizes & colors (solids, patterns, and reversible). They are made to stay in place, but unlike slipcovers they easy on easy off, stain & water repellent, machine wash tumble dry.
Train your dog to stay off. I have a 60 lb. lab/mix that has never even tried to climb on my leather furniture.
I put a rug gripper on the couch and it keeps a throw or blanket in place
I'm on board with a previous comment.............buy a rug gripper and cut to size....will keep just about anything in place. Roll up a magazine and push the gripper in-between the seat cushion and back cushion to keep it in place.
You could get a scat mat to teach your dog to stay off the sofa; they are a lot cheaper than buying covers or trying to make something fit that just doesn't.

Well that's how you run your home but in our home our dogs are like family and they are permitted on the sofa to cuddle and they love every moment as much as I do. They are family. My dogs are around 5o + lbs
