Can anything be done about this mirror besides setting a flower there?

What you propose seems so expensive and time consuming and may not work. This may sound hair-brained as well but what about mirror spray paint over that spot? Tape off as much as you can to prevent the paint getting anywhere you don't want it. A couple of light mists might cover enough that it doesn't stand out so much. If it doesn't work, you can scrap it off again.
Frame it! Cover the bad spot with the wood.
If room allows I would opt for framing it out and it will also give you a updated look.
easy fix measure the highest point and mark it off run tape around the entire mirror and paint the bad part with glass paint i use folk art enamel then carefully remove tape let air dry follow instruction on paint for cleaning
Silicone a row of small ceramic tiles to make a border all the way around on the mirror. or frame it with light 3" wide pine you can stain and use the Velcro strips on the mirror and the back of the wood so all you have to do is cut four pieces of wood to the size of the mirror and stick them .

measure the highest point of bad area then mark of area all around mirror making a taped border above the bad area then paint the bad area with folk art enamel paint in what ever color you choose then you remove tape and instantly a border and no more bad mirror showing noticed it up against your back splash or something make sure you tape over it before painting too if you were closer id come do it for you have fun
