You can use them like bowling pins or set them up in a pyramid to try to know them down with a ball. Making the old fashioned telephones is always a fun Project
Make music shaker, poke holes in the can and make a lantern, if they have lids, they can be storage containers..etc
Add string and make phones
Just make sure you pound out the back of holes. These can cause some nasty cuts. You can also decoupage or paint cans to make pretty containers.
I love the idea of making music shakers, depending on the age of the kids! You can put beans inside.
Make stilts: Leave the bottom on the cans and clean. Punch two holes near the bottom on opposite sides of the can. Cut heavy twine a little less than twice the length from child's hands to child's feet. Thread one end of twine through the hole to the inside and tie a knot inside the can. Repeat with other end of twine and can holes. Repeat twine on other can. Turn cans upside-down. Child stands on the cans and keeps the twine taut while they walk on the stilts.
Show them how to make a "telephone" out of 2 cans and a string is one idea!
