I be used it and thought is was way to shiny, but satin is better. Flat works well if it's a new door, here my flat door paint photo.

Any sheen is fine: sheen level is a preference. The important thing is that you buy a paint that's specifically made for outdoor use or it will fail in the elements - i.e. don't use a semi gloss interior latex on a door.
High gloss is great for small projects like doors and trim but will look very strange because of its high sheen on large surfaces. Also, high sheen does not retain its glossy finish as well as lower sheen paints.
