We got a film from Menards (like Lowes or Home Depot, if you aren't familiar) that you put on the window and it makes it look smoked. Our bathroom windows are large and low, so we couldn't open the shades, until we applied that. There is also spray on. Only bad thing, you can't see out.
You could put up the daytime privacy material and cover your window at night with blinds or curtains.
For something nice to look at you could make a Roman shade with a favorite vacation photo or scenery on it.

Two resolves:
There is a spray "frost" that you can put on your window to create privacy without losing the light coming in. The spray is available at Walmart.
There is opaque contact paper that will obscure the view but allow light to filter in.
I just used frosted Contact plastic on lower half of my bathroom window.
1 word..ARTSCAPE window films. AWESOME ! I have them all over my home and LOVE THEM !! Give light..but no nosey neighbors can look in . SO easy to apply and remove and SO many designs !@!!
Sun screen blinds
They make cling vinyls that look like frosted glass, and lets the sun shine thru. Google vinyl clings.
This stuff works amazing and low cost If your looking for a quick fix or something more classy would be shutters, so you can control the privacy and light or a roller sun shade from JCPenneys? Just a thought
frosted contact paper i put in my
Try using gallery glass in crystal clear. I used this on my sidelights at the front door. I put it on thick with my fingertips, just tapping it on. Turned out great and still let's light in, yet from the outside looking in its distorted.
