You could make flavored oils, and give them in pretty thrift store bottles; you could make flavored sugars, or herbed butters.... If you give the herbed butters, I would give a wrapped thrift store butter dish for the presentation, and include a note that says, their gift is in the fridge or send them on a scavenger hunt to you house. :D What about giving beautiful coffee mugs filled with a hot chocolate mix, and the recipe? OR filled with with a single serve mix for a MIcrowave Mug Cake? Just wrap the mixes up in a plastic baggie; tie with a ribbon and put in a cup.
Give a hug or kiss or some affectionate gesture or word.
My favorite DIY holiday gifts are that of baked goods.... either you can bake them (cookies, small flavored sweet breads) and deliver them in packages made from repurposed items (coffee cans, shoe boxes) decorated with a holiday flare and including the recipe!! Or give to those who like to bake themselves , a recipe with all the ingredients measured out into a mason jar-- toss in a dollar store wooden spoon, hot mitt, kitchen towel placed in a basket with a holiday bow and your done!! The ingredients bought will go far to make several gifts, so vary how you package them. In a cookie jar, or maybe on a small cutting board for the loaves with the ingredients in a nice big coffee mug.......endless.
