How to remove gray heat spots from a table top
There are gray heat spots on my dining table that I would like to remove. They were probably caused by hot bowls of food set on it.
Try a small amount of plain white toothpaste. Rub gently with a very soft cloth in the direction of the wood grain. Then wax. I have also heard of using cigar ashes.

Or rub any oily substance into the wood with a micro fiber cloth
the moisture condensing under the hot cardboard makes the table polish turn white. To fix, use white toothpaste on your finger or on a cloth — rub with the grain of the wood until it gets warm. Wipe with a slightly damp (water only) cloth; dry well. You'll likely have to do this a few times. The spots will look less cloudy as you keep at it. Once they're all gone, polish to finish. http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/cleaning/q-and-a/a21063/pizza-box-stains-on-table/
