Having trouble diagnosing 92 Chevrolet S-10 4.3 carburetor/ fuel suppl

I have had that problem before, check all the fuel filters, including if you have one in the fuel tank. If one is fouled, it creates a vacuum that won't let fuel through the fuel line until every thing cools off. The first time I had that happen was when I was in college a bit over 100 miles from home. It took them a few days to find it and only after I talked them into taking a ride on the freeway which was where it always happened. Happened to them, then they knew exactly what was wrong! Hardly charged me a thing and even filled my gas tank for nothing because they couldn't figure it out until I told them what to do to find the problem.

Sounds like "Vapor Lock" where gas turns to vapor in the line and prevents flow, or could be a broken automatic choke bi-metalic strip. This is usually a round object near carb that will rotate throttle plate, and is easy to replace.

Vapor lock usually caused by a piece of insulation coming off , a bracket that holds the line falling off or being bent, or other damage moving the gas line closer to a hot spot. Find it by following line from gas tank to carb and separate / insulate or provide ventilation wherever it gets too close to something hot - manifold, exhaust system, engine block.

I know this is an odd ? but do you have a short somewhere. The reason i ask this is because i was haven a simuler problem. please ck out www.automotiveforum.com. My truck ended up having a short on the wire going to the fuel tank --Check your fuses : note do not ever put a higher amp fuse in a lower amp space.
