Depends. Get yourself some vinegar and baking soda. sprinkle the baking soda and then spray w vinegar. Let it sit until it stops fuzzing. Then take a razor blade(one in a handle for safety) and begin scraping with the blade on an angle. wipe up the mess. Repeat. The best way to keep the surface clean is to clean up after each spill. Don’t let them sit.
To clean my glass top stove I squeeze dish detergent on (zig zag across), sprinkle baking soda to entire top, and add hydrogen peroxide. With a medium stiff brush I go over entire glass in circular fashion, then use razor blade scraper to remove burnt on food. I continue scrubbing with brush until I'm satisfied glass top will be clean. With paper towel I wipe off mixture. Then use hot water with soft cloth to wipe glass top and remove any left over residue, and then use paper towel to dry and shine.
Razorblade
1. Press damp paper towels onto all the glass surface. Use enough water so the paper towels stay damp for several hours. 2. Remove towels and then use a straight edge razor blade held at a 45 degree angle to gently but firmly scrape the glass, using a blade holder for safety.
3. Wipe away debris frequently and change blade often. 4. It is important to use a good quality blade, not a cheap one. You do not want to scratch your glass. I keep a box of blades in the drawer under my stovetop all the time and use them to remove sticky spills as the occur.
5. Follow with cleaner made for glass stove tops. The kind I use has no fragrance or caustic properties, but you could wear gloves and a disposable face mask if needed. 6. Finally, polish glass surface with a soft, clean cloth. Voila! Like new!
use a straight razor blade and gently scrape with the razor flush on the surfaces. Clean it just like you would scrape paint from a window.
wow many thanks for the responses i will try them in order
The key to removing built-up burnt spills to "rehydrate" the spill, fold a paper towel into a quarter of its size. Wet the folded towel so that it is dripping wet, then place it over the spill and leave it for 20 - 30 minutes. The spill should become rehydrated which will make clean up a snap.
