Painting cheap slab doors- question...

I hate my doors but can't afford to replace them all. I am in the process of redoing a rather large basement area. I painted and then white washed doors in the bedroom but when it comes to the other side of the door that goes into the other room the gray/whitewashed door is not going to work. Have you ever done a different paint job on the one side to go with that room color. I am torn about what to do. Maybe some day I will win the lottery and replace all my doors!

I used to live a 100-year-old house with nice paneled wooden doors that were all painted one color on one side and another on the other. If the hallway were gray, the doors were painted to complement or contrast the hall. My bathroom had a formal, one-color-hides-all on the kitchen side and a playful scheme inside where the panels were painted in seaside colors and seashells and sea critters were handpainted along the sides.
I really didn't mind the different colors and it worked well within the house. I don't think you need to follow someone else's aesthetic here but your own. If the color on the other side isn't going to work, then use a color that will. You can even leave one side painted and one side solid wood-- it's really up to you.
I have painted doors different colors on either side and the sides/ends a 3rd neutral color to match the rooms moldings..... to add interest to your doors add some molding for a faux panel effect.
Cover with wallpaper or paint then use stencil for design..
I have painted doors with two different colors to match to rooms....sometimes we have no choice.
