Have you tried any of the paints or dyes made specifically for fabric and vinyl? What paints have you tried?
Although this is a current decorating fad, most fabrics were never intended to be covered in paint. Texture, look, and feel of fabric depends on the weave of the fibres, the space in betwen the weave, and the natural weight of the drape. Paint hardens and interfers with all these natural characteristics.
