My floor colour is gray. what chalk paint colour for kitchen cabinets?

Personally I wouldn't use chalk paint on kitchen cabinets because of wear & tear, chipping, fingerprints, cleaning, etc. I'd recommend a satin or semi gloss paint. Gray is a wonderful color to work with. Janet Panos has a great site for you to visit. You can always visit your local Home Depot & Lowes to view their kitchen displays for ideas. If you use chalk paint on your cabinets, do not use wax to seal. Wax melts and will start getting sticky and streak..use a polyacrylic. It is a wonderful sealer and dries clear. If you want the antique look, they have the matte finish. Use at least two coats and three if you can.

People love the look of the chalk paint, but think they have to use wax on it.. then they find that their work was wasted because of heat and humidity...wax melts.

If you have used the wax already, take Mineral spirits and a clean cloth and wipe on the mineral spirits and wipe off the wax. Mineral spirits will remove any oil based product, I use it to clean my brushes after using oil paints, Urethane or waxes.

Gray is a color that so many other colors go with, depending what color gray. Grays usually have a under tone..it can be blue, green, violet, taupe.

Get samples and put on a post board and place on different walls different times of the day. Paint will look different in different lights. With gray its hard to get a pure gray without the undertones of subtle color.
